Image and Text

Accelerated optimizes all client photos for clarity and download speed over the Internet.  It's a challenging and difficult task, since those criteria are diametrically opposed to one another--the better a photo looks, the larger its file size and the longer it takes to load into a browser window.

So we work to find the proper balance between quality and file size. Please take a look a look at our photograph comparison page. All photos were created from the same digital camera image, yet each was compressed slightly more than the photo preceding it.

Our experience in photo optimization is one reason we provide free scanning services with our accounts. However, due to the limited number of free scans we can provide, clients with an above-average number of photos or other images may choose to do one of the following:
1) Contract with us to provide additional scanning and photo optimization.
Additional scans are $15.60 per photo or image.

OR

2) Provide us your images on disk.  If the images are Web-ready, we will put them to use for you without further charge.  However, if the images are not Web-ready, we may have to institute a $50.00/hour photo optimization charge.

         a) Web-ready image specifications:

* The image resolution must be 72 dpi (ppi).

* The image print size should be approximately 4.5" x 3".  This allows us to place 2 images side-by-side for viewing at a 640 x 480 monitor resolution (the lowest common denominator for the world's computers). Special circumstances, of course, may dictate other print sizes.

* The photo must be saved in ".jpeg" format for full color images, or in ".GIF" format for 256-color (or fewer) images.

* A file size of 30 KB or less will provide for acceptable download speed.

* Save images onto a CDR disk and send it to us.

       b) Non-Web-ready images:

* Scan at a resolution between 150 and 300 dpi (ppi). Doing so allows us to size and crop the image, if required.

* Size most images to a print size of approximately 4.5" x 3"

* Save in PC ".tiff" format.

* Save images onto a CDR disk and send it to us.

 

Text Submissions
During the initial phase of your Web Site construction, Accelerated has no text submission requirements. We want you to focus on your message--concern yourself with what you have to say, not how you're going to get the text to us.  Fax it in, call it in and leave it on voice mail, dictate it to a sales rep--just get it to us!

However, we do require that text submissions for Web Site or Home Page maintenance programs and updates be provided on disk. We are still extremely flexible with our requirements:
